What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga Yoga is one of the most effective systems of self improvement ever developed with roots dating back to around 8000BC. It is a joining together of breath, movement, postures and a focused mind through a powerful sequence that systematically develops balance, alignment, strength, stamina, endurance, flexibility and concentration.
It is one of the fastest growing yoga systems in the world today.

Can everybody do Ashtanga Yoga?

What is the Pathway to the Primary?
‘The Pathway to the Primary’ Series is a five level systematic approach to this powerful practice allowing the body to adapt over time with safety and enjoyment. It allows everyone to move through to the Primary Series without being intimidated by a full Primary Series class, even modified classes need preparation to understand the fundamentals and develop a strong foundation.

How often should I practice?
Regularity is the key, classes and courses are designed to develop your own personal practice. It is not practical to attend classes every time you want to practice. Yoga is meant to be done without distraction and in your own space. This allows you the freedom to grow into the practice in your own time with instruction there only to guide you safely and give you the confidence and the motivation needed to establish it.

"Through repetition the magic is forced to rise."

Ashtanga Yoga has a positive effect on every aspect of our physiology. It soothes the nervous system and energizes the body, improves the cardiovascular system by allowing longer, deeper breathing which stimulates the entire body by increasing oxygen flow through the circulatory system rejuvenating every cell in the body. Digestion becomes more efficient and the metabolic system is boosted. It also activates and regulates the elimination system and it has a positive effect on the endocrine system. The skeletal system falls into alignment and every muscle in the body is toned and strengthened. Flexibility is greatly increased. This all comes together to allow a free flow of energy throughout the entire body.

Ashtanga Yoga is a breathing practice. A unique breathing technique called Ujjayi Pranayama is learned connecting us with the core of the body.
